Be patience with success, because success is a journey. If you try to rush success, you will get discourage and not achieve it.

I= Invest

Prepare your work outside and make it ready for yourself in the field; afterwards, then, build your house. ~ Proverbs 24:27

In considering the term “invest” when it comes to success, you might instantly think of money. However, according to the Dictionary.Com, the term goes much deeper than money. It is truly an all encompassing term that take you into being a servant leader in the marketplace; as all of God’s children should be who are in the market place realm.

Take a look at the top three definitions for invest.

1. to put (money) to use, by purchase or expenditure, in something offering potential profitable returns, as interest,income, or appreciation in value.
2. to use (money), as in accumulating something: to invest large sums in books.
3. \to use, give, or devote (time, talent, etc.), as for a purpose or to achieve something: He invested a lot of time in helping mentally disabled children.

Invest Your Money in Others

The first two definitions have to do with money and as business owners we must be willing to invest in order to accumulate. Now I am not talking greed or love of money but I am saying that it takes money to make money and there is no way around that. If you are in business then you are trying to earn an income to take care of your necessities and maybe even some of your wants. This means that you can’t always look for the free route.

Some things that are free are just not worth the effort to use. On the other hand, there are many free tools on the market that are great to use. However, it is impossible for you to build your business, even your ministry based on free.

It is a prevalent epidemic within the Kingdom for other believers to expect for their brothers and sisters in Christ to give willingly of the services and products they work hard at maintaining. This is not to be. We must be willing to invest in each other and sometimes that involves putting some dollars on the table.

Invest Your Money Wisely

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? ~ Luke 16:10-11

When it comes to your money you also want to be sure to spend wisely. Can I admit something to you?

I was a single mother for 10 years with no help from my son’s father. There were times when I worked three jobs to make ends meet and received $50 a month in food stamps. Some weeks we ate hot dogs and eggs; and that was pretty much it. However, I always made sure my child ate, looked good, and enjoyed being a child. That just meant I had to go without often.

In struggling as I did, I developed a hustle to pay bills mentality and it has stuck with me up through this year when I began to wrestle with my money story. God showed me that the reason why I struggle with my income is because I have that hustle mentality that keeps me from understanding how to use money wisely. He showed me that while at the time I had no other choice but to hustle for my son and I that those days are behind me and it is time for my story to change.

Changing my story meant a lot of investing but it worth the effort and seeing the fruit my labor is a wonderful view.

Invest Yourself

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ~ Galatians 5:13-14

The final definition of invest involves the giving of “self” and I think this is often too difficult a task for many people. Perhaps it is the “it’s about me society” we live, but for the Child of God, this should not be. We are called to serve and serving others demands that we invest into them in some way or another.

Investing yourself in serving others is liberating. When you serve in love it brings healing, transformation, and a pouring of abundant blessings to all involved. The moments you give to others will benefit your business; your life, in ways that will change your very existence.

It is not wise to hoard your time in doing things that are not pleasing to God and uplifting for others.

As you consider how to build your success, learn more about investing in a whole manner. Invest with caution, wisdom, and a sound mind but do invest.
